Tutoring and Reading Center

Our Reading Center offers services throughout the weekdays and during the summer months. Intervention may be tailored for an individual client, a small group, or for home-school students’ education and remediation.

All incoming clients will receive a comprehensive reading assessment to evaluate strengths and areas of weakness in the essential five areas of reading. All incoming clients are asked to bring any prior diagnostic testing, school report cards, and work samples. The assessment will assist in recognizing a need for intervention, identifying strategy-deficiency, and establishing goals for treatment.

Reading intervention sessions are one full hour of one-on-one time with a reading specialist or an hour session with a partner or small group of students who are working on the same concepts. Reading intervention activities are tailored to the specific needs of each client and are based on the reading intake assessment and targeted strategies to improve independent reading skills. At-home assignments are given to compliment each reading intervention session. We utilize a variety of tools including, but not limited to Orton-Gillingham, LindaMood Bell, Wilson Reading, FastForword™, and Reading Assistant™.

Other subject areas may be addressed during multi-sensory-based tutoring sessions, including:
